Geshe Tenzin Chophel

The Venerable Geshe Tenzin Choepel was born in 1974. He entered religious life and received his pre-novice and novice vows in 1989. In 1991 he went to the Holy Land of India and he studied in Sera Mey monastic college. 

During more than 20 years, he perfectly learned and pondered the vast and encompassing Buddhist authoritative texts at the feet of numerous eminent teachers headed by His Eminence, the Incomparable Jangtse Choje Kyabje Gosok Rinpoche Vajradhara. 

During the examinations held in the monastic college (tratsang), he was almost every year ranked among the top three examinees and he acquired the rank of a defendant during the debates. 

During the “Jangphu winter Dharma assembly”, in front of almost ten thousand of scholars coming from the Three Great Gelukpa monasteries, he perfectly asserted his thesis and expressed his gratitude to the feet of His Holiness who had come to see the debates. His Holiness was really highly delighted by the way Geshe Tenzin Choepel answered with a confidence free of any fear to whatever analysis and refutation made by numerous scholars and to the questions on the authoritative texts raised by eminent senior teachers. 

Not only did all the scholars unanimously praised him, but also the senior teachers lauded him with great joy and granted him with reward. Clouds of unexcelled offerings that pleased the Victorious were presented. 

Then during six years, he took all the Geluk examinations and in 2011, he passed the final examination of all the exams of the Geluk monastery institutions and was ranked second among the Karam, the Acarya and the Lharam. In 2012, he passed the Geshe Lharampa exam. In 2013, he joined the Dharma sessions of the illustrious Tantric monastic college Megyu tratsang. There he studied and pondered the Tantric authoritative texts. During the Tantric examination he ranked first.

Nowadays, he is continuously teaching the great authoritative texts to the students of almost ten classes of the monastic college of Sera Mey and thus, he is greatly working for the Teaching.
