Miraculous Transformations; 神變 (); Tibetan: ཆོ་འཕྲུལ (cho-trül); Wylie: cho ‘phrul;
Miraculous Transformations refers to the extraordinary ability to manifest physical transformations and create magical displays as a result of advanced meditative concentration. These feats include multiplying one’s body, shrinking or enlarging physical forms, passing through solid objects, walking on water, flying through the air, and appearing in multiple places simultaneously. In Buddhist contexts, these powers are considered natural byproducts of deep mental training and are not the ultimate goal of practice. They are sometimes used by awakened teachers to inspire faith or subdue stubborn beings, but such displays are strictly governed by ethical conduct and compassion, and are never performed for personal glory.
