Definitive Teaching  or Ultimate Meaning;  了義教法 (恩東); Tibetan: ངེས་དོན (ngedon); Wylie: nges don; Sanskrit: Nitartha;

Teachings of the Buddha that give the direct, most profound meaning of dharma and are not simplified for the capacity of the listener. This contrasts with the provisional meaning.

了義教法是直指佛法的高深含義，不因聽法者的根器而簡化。與此相反的是不了義教法。

A passage in a sutra text that discusses the most profound view of voidness, and to which all other passages in all other sutra texts eventually lead or point. Such passages do not need to be explained as indicating anything more profound.

This is an beta (testing) version of our Chinese / English / Sanskrit / Tibetan Buddhism popup dictionary system.
